The change has always bothered me.

If we wish peace only to men of good will, what does that say about the bad guys, the evildoers? Are we giving them permission, even hoping that they continue their evil activities, running about the world doing nasty things to their fellow man and terrorizing the rest of us? Or are they just supposed to beat up and kill each other during the holidays while leaving the rest of us alone, something like the family wars of the Mafia, gangs fighting over territory, or dopers squabbling over their transactions?

If there were anyone we should want to be peaceful it ought to be the violent bad buys. Isn't that why we put them in jail? Isn't that what rehabilitation is all about, teaching them to give up their evil ways, integrate into society and be peaceful? Why would we give up on this at Christmas? It isn't Mardi Gras, you know.

I think about this every Christmas when I start hearing the changed greeting again. I just thought I would pass my concerns on to you. Don't worry about it, no single raindrop feels responsible for the flood.
