SPEED KILLS
A LESSON FROM THE SIXTIES? |

| How can you trust a government that continually lies to you about Social Security? Do you believe they're suddenly telling the truth about Iraq? If you can't trust your government on domestic issues, how can you trust them on war policy and things that you can't verify for yourself? At this late date, if George W. Bush finally produced the conclusive evidence that he claims to have had for so many monthswould you believe him? Would you believe it had not been fabricated, creatively developed by George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, the CIA, or some other well paid crafty visual effects experts? If you would go for that one at this point in time, then I've got a bridge to sell you. Do you really think we sent all those troops over there, surrounded Iraq with weaponry, and paid off all of our fair weather friends while renting their airbases and air space, and did all that for nothing? Months of deployment and bombing in Kuwait and the "no fly zones" has just been an exercise, normal maneuvers, right? If Sadaam Hussein were truly disliked by his own people, would he be giving everyone free guns to defend themselves against American invaders? Wouldn't that be sort of suicidal? Don't you realize that the CIA, military intelligence and counter-intelligence forces, have been in there for ages trying to get the Kurds, Shiites, and others to rise up like the Northern Alliance and do the job for us. Sometimes, what you do not hear is meaningful, particularly when our guys are told to stick-it. If a nation of 23 million can have a standing army of 9 million, doesn't that say something about being "all you can be?" Notice how it compares with a nation of 280 million and a combined military force of 1.4 million. Hasn't Sadaam been embargoed and bombed for the last decade? Isn't an embargo similar to laying siege to a castle? Can Sadaam travel freely to Cuba? How many children have we already starved? Rather than stand toe-to-toe with the enemy, the U.S. intends to spend billions sitting safely back out of range playing video games and catapulting hi-tech weapons of mass destruction at a nation we accuse of hiding the same devices. And then we will reward ourselves with medals for heroism. How can the producers of Waco, Kent State, Ruby Ridge, and other atrocitiesa nation that still has Viet Nam veterans suffering the effects of Agent Orangeaccuse any other nation of criminal acts against its own people? Isn't that called hypocrisy? Who has used nuclear weapons, not once, but twice? Elected on a platform opposing U.S. foreign policy, the new President of Brazil said; "the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty only makes sense if the big boys lay down their weapons first. Otherwise, they are just using these weapons to beat us over the head and make us do things their way." Do you feel any safer today than you felt on September the twelfth? Who mailed those Anthrax letters and where did they get the stuff? First place we looked was our own stockpile. Where's Osama ben Laden? Shouldn't the Air Force be giving its Top Guns a focusing agent like Ritalin instead of amphetamines? |
