WACO
THE ANNIVERSARY |
|||||
| We all know what happened eight years ago at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. We saw it on television, played and replayed over and over. This year, we will hear plenty about the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and the innocent children killed by Timothy McVeigh, along with his impending execution. You will also be reminded of the shootings at Columbine that happened on the same anniversary date. But we’ll hear nothing about the number of children and adults killed at Waco. In other words, you will hear plenty about the crimes the government and its media lackeys want to remind you of, but nothing of the incident where they got away with murder. Another Timothy, this time the Director of the Cato Institute’s Project on Criminal Justice, Timothy Lynch has just released a report titled “No Confidence; An Unofficial Account of the Waco Incident.” I strongly recommend this report to everyone. Download at: http://cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-395es.html or you can have the 20 page report in PDF format by clicking here. There are simply too many unanswered questions about the Waco incident such as what the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), the FBI and troops from Fort Hood were doing there in the first place. Why David Koresh, couldn’t have been arrested away from the compound when visiting the nearby town of Waco where he was considered a regular and respected visitor. Why at least two agents were inside the compound only nine days before the initial February raid, even having target practice in the back yard with David Koresh who supplied the ammunition. Whether the BATF simply needed something dramatic to justify its existence or increase its budget at a time when budgets were being decided, just as next year’s budget is being decided as you read this. We’ve had other cases where the government’s agents have been exonerated of all charges, but Waco may be the first or at least the most complete proof of the media’s ability to make the public believe almost anything the government wishes to have accepted as fact. It’s certainly the most dramatic instance of promoting a story that lays the blame entirely on the shoulders of the victims.
